Race 4: No.2 Mistress Of War
The Karen Kersley-trained galloper is third-up here and should now be ready to produce her best in this event.
Last start, the War Chant mare was second-up and showed a ton of improvement when she finished sixth in a Class 3 Hcp over 1600m at Belmont.
Regular rider Laqdar Ramoly had her leading on settling where she remained to the turn, then in the run home, boxed on gamely and only weakened over the final 50m, finishing three lengths from the winner.
Meeting similar company here, she steps-up to a more suitable 1800m trip and from gate three, maps to either lead or take a sit just off the pace with Ramoly remaining aboard for this assignment.
A track and distance specialist here, she is already a winner when third-up and fitter for those first two runs, the seven-year-old should give us a bold sight in this contest.
Race 6: No.3 Bourbonontherocks
The Justine Erkelens-trained galloper has improved with every start this preparation and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Awesome Rock gelding was having his third start and went one better when he took out a set weights Maiden over 1400m at Belmont.
He jumped awkwardly from the outside gate (13) but recovered to settle mid-field to the turn, then pushed forward and on straightening found clean air then in the run home, finished too strong for them in the end.
The step-up to the 1600m looks ideal for him here where he draws better in gate six and maps to settle just behind the speed with Shaun O’Donnell back for his third ride on the gelding.
Fourth-up and at his peak, the three-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 8: No.10 Quedjinup
Brandon Fiore saddles-up Quedjinup here who is second-up and looks a serious player in this event.
Last start, the Brave Smash filly came off a 12-week spell and did well to finish third in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at Belmont.
Lucy Fiore settled her near last where she remained to the turn, then tracking wide, she straightened-up spotting the leader eight lengths before finishing strongly but conceded too much start in the end, having to settle for the minor prize, just out-bobbed for second on the line.
Fitter for that hit-out, she draws out in gate 10 and maps to settle back in the field with Fiore steering the ship again.
Placed when second-up last campaign, the step-up to the 1400m looks ideal for her here and with a clear run to the line, the three-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
