Race 2: No.5 Savvy Spy
The Randwick-based galloper is high-flying this time in and looks well placed here to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Savabeel gelding improved even further off three starts back and claimed the honours by taking out a BM64 over 2000m at Hawkesbury.
Rachel King settled him back early where he trailed the field to the turn, then on straightening, crossed heels to be the widest runner but found plenty in the run home and went on to score comfortably in the end.
Stepping up in grade and facing the 2400m for the first time here, he draws well in gate four and maps to drop back and settle near the rear of the field with Tim Clark returning for his second ride on the gelding.
At his peak and carrying 4.5kgs less than last start, he looks a genuine winning chance in this contest.
Race 3: No.3 Verbil
Team Archibald saddle-up Verbil here who has run into form of later and looks in the mix here as a threat to victory in this event.
Last start, the Fastnet Rock gelding put in his best performance this campaign when he beat all but one home in a BM78, here over 1400m.
From gate one, Tom Sherry settled him mi-field on the fence to the turn before coming off the leader’s heels, then taking over soon after, looked the winner but was run down by one on fresh legs and had to settle for second prize in the end.
Meeting similar company here over the same trip, he draws ideally in gate two and maps to be box-seating on settling with James McDonald returning for the ride.
Conditions look ideal for him, with three of his four career wins coming on dry tracks and off a seven-day back-up, he will be at his peak and hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 6: No.4 She’s An Artist
The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper drops sharply in grade here and looks set to bounce back in this event.
Last start, the Trapeze Artist mare came off a close-up second in BM88 company when she stepped-up to a black-type affair and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth in the Group 3 Nivision over 1200m at Rosehill.
Regan Bayliss settled her mid-field early then in the run home, she was crowded for room and never clear until the final 150m where she stormed home to finish less then a length from victory over the line.
Back to BM88 competition here, she draws out in gate nine and maps to cross and settle better than mid-field with Zac Lloyd as the new pilot.
Down in grade, fourth-up and at her peak now, the five-year-old will take a tone of beating in this contest.
