Race 4: No.6 Autumn Heir
The Kris Lees-trained galloper is in good touch this time in and up in trip today, looks a serious player in this event.
Last start, the offspring of The Autumn Sun carried 60.5kgs into fifth place in a BM58 Hcp over 1700m at Scone.
Settling back in the field, he held his ground and ran on fairly to finish four lengths from the winner that day with Andrew Gibbons in the saddle.
Stepping-up in grade and distance here, he faces BM66 company over 2100m and drops 4.5kgs for the assignment where he draws gate seven and maps to settle back in the field with Gibbons aboard once more.
Both career wins have come on soft tracks so conditions look ideal for him today and with a trouble-free run, he can figure in this contest.
Race 5: No.3 Smart Buy
Rod Northam saddles-up Smart Buy here who is four starts into this preparation and should now be ready to strike in this event.
Last start, the Written By mare finished mid-field in a BM58 over 1450m at Muswellbrook with apprentice Anna Weatherlake aboard for the first time.
Settling last of the nine runners, she worked into the race on the turn but gave them too much start, finishing fifth on a Soft 7 that day.
Seeing the Tamworth track for the first time today, she jumps from gate six and maps to settle back in the field with Weatherlake in the saddle again and at her peak, looks a winning chance in this contest.
Race 6: No.5 Denman Bandit
The Brett Thompson-trained galloper is in great touch of late and looks ideally placed to give this event a real shake today.
Last start, the Denman gelding made it three-straight podium finishes when he beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m at Warren.
Carrying 60kgs on a Soft 7 that day, Nick Palmer had him settled mid-field on the fence to the turn then as the field shifted out, he railed through and in the run home gave his all but was beaten home by one better on the day, settling for second prize in the end.
Stepping-up to the 1200m for the first time today, he gets all the favours from gate one where he maps to be box-seating on settling and after steering him to both career wins to date, Jake Pracey-Holmes is back aboard for this assignment.
In career-best form at the moment, the three-year-old looks set to make a big impression with his first look at the track today.
