Pakenham Racing Tips for June 15 – Track specialist is great value in Race 8

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our daily selections.

We open up with a Maiden over the 2200m and Linkenholt can get the job done after a half a length 3rd on the Pakenham Turf over the 2000m at what was just his second career start. The Moody/Coleman galloper sat midfield in that race and made an early move, hitting a flat spot as they cornered but picking himself up again to close off with the fastest last 200m. He went just 2.5 lengths slower than standard benchmark in that run, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. Stable go for the blinkers and if he handles his first start on the surface he should be too good. 

Mafee can go very close in Race 8. The Reece Goodwin-trained galloper has been building up to another win and gets on to the Synthetic, where he is two wins from three starts. He last stepped out at Geelong and led before being picked off in the shadows by Duel Venture, holding a four-length gap on the rest of the field. The five-year-old will sit handy to the speed and previous form on the surface after a number of runs at his preparation last year suggests that he will be hard to beat. 

Willing to have something on Two Sigma at her first run back from a spell. The four-year-old had a six start campaign that concluded earlier this year and was a Sandown BenchMark 70 winner over the 1600m, while she wasn’t far away when resuming with a close up 5th in a solid form race at Cranbourne. She has had one run on the Synthetic with that coming last year, finishing runner-up over the 1400m here last July. The 1200m might be a tad short of her best but she draws to enjoy a perfect time of it from barrier 3 and will tuck in just behind the speed.
