The Jamie Richards-trained galloper is second-up today and with a big drop in weight, looks set to bounce back in this event.

Last start, the Brutal gelding resumed off the season break and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth in a Class 3 Hcp, here down the straight 1000m course.

Settling just behind the speed, he chased them all the way home but his fresh legs weakened over the final 100m, finishing out of the money that day.

Second-up here, Karis Teetan retains the ride as he meets similar company today down the straight course again where he draws gate four and maps to be better than mid-field on settling.

Down 4kgs from his last start and fitter for that run, he can figure here and is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 8: No.12 Mojave Desert

The Mark Newnham-trained galloper is high flying this time in and ticks enough boxes here to be given a better than even chance of winning this event.

Last start, the last start, the I Am Invincible gelding improved off his first-up minor placing and took out a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1650m with Andrea Atzeni in the saddle again.

On a wet all-weather track, he settled mid-field on the fence where Atzeni had a vice-like grip on him to the turn before easing off heels where he quickly gained control and ran away with the race, crossing the line almost two lengths clear in the end.

The five-year-old steps-up in grade today as he takes on Class 2 company but drops 6kgs in the process, bringing him right into calculations with Atzeni retaining the ride.

From gate seven, he maps to settle mid-field or better and already a winner over the track and distance, he looks a serious player in this contest.

Race 10: No.4 Gentlemen Legacy

The Tony Cruz-trained galloper resumes after 14 weeks off the scene and looks well placed to shine on fresh legs in this event.

Last start, the Showtime gelding ended his last campaign on a high when he took out a Class 3 Hcp, here over the 2000m trip.

Sent out a white-hot favourite ($1.70), Zac Purton settled him better than mid-field (on the fence) before winding him up nearing the turn where he improved to enter the battle and with every stride, reached the front runners, going on to claim victory on the line.

Now fresh off the season break, he has trialled twice (winning his most recent) and has Purton steering the ship again for this assignment.

Ideally drawn in gate four, he maps to settle just behind the speed and boasting a strong track record, looks set to make his mark on this contest.
