Race 4: No.11 Danica’s Choice

The Frankie Lor-trained galloper makes his Hong Kong debut today and going off his prior form, looks a sneaky chance at odds in this event.

Last start, the Swiss Ace gelding had his second race start and broke through to win his Maiden over 1150m at Te Aroha (NZ) back in March this year.

Since arriving in Hong Kong he has trialled twice and lines-up here fresh and ready to go with Derek Leung in the saddle.

From gate six, it is unknown where he will settle but a mid-field sit looks most likely with a good start.

If he can re-produce his New Zealand form here, he can figure in the finish and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 6: No.2 Shanghai Style

The Danny Shum-trained galloper is three starts into this campaign and now looks ready to win.

Last start, the Belardo gelding came off two unplaced efforts on the turf track when he returned to the all-weather track and showed noticeable improvement when he beat all but one home in a Class 4 Hcp, here over the 1650m trip.

On a much preferred surface that night, Hugh Bowman settled him just off the speed before taking over soon after straightening and looked home but was grabbed late by a swooper, taking home the silver medal from the race.

Remaining on the all-weather track today, he draws nicely in gate six and maps to settle just behind the speed again, this time with James McDonald as the new pilot.

Fourth-up and at his peak, he looks a genuine winning chance in this contest.

Race 7: No.9 Patch Of Stars

The Manfred Man-trained galloper has made a successful return from the season break and looks set to tackle this class rise and claim back-to-back wins in this event.

Last start, the All Too Hard gelding came off an unplaced first-up effort and turned it around when he took out a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m.

Regular rider Zac Purton settled him mid-field on the fence before turning for home where he secured a split and soon after took over and out-raced them all to the post, eased over the line.

Jumping from gate nine today, he maps to settle mid-field with cover and has Purton steering the ship again.

The four-year-old is progressing nicely through the grades and looks the testing material in this contest.

Race 10: No.9 Max Que

The Mark Newnham-trained galloper is high-flying this time in and ticks enough boxes here to be considered a genuine winning chance in this event.

Last start, the Akeed Mofeed gelding was shooting for the hat-trick when stepping up to the mile trip for the first time and finished third, here in Class 3 company.

Alex Badel backed up from the previous start and settled the gelding back in the field before taking the turn via the cape and did well to claim the minor prize, beaten just half a length by Fortune Boy and Pope Cody.

He meets both these gallopers again in this race, but meets them better at the weights today.

Badel steers the ship again and from gate one, gets the gun-run and maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence.

At his peak today with the dream draw, he has strong claims for victory in this contest.
