The Tony Gollan trained galloper is high flying this time in and looks well placed here for another Doomben victory in this event.

Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding was shooting for the hat-trick when he finished a close-up third in a BM80 over 1625m at Toowoomba.

Ben Thompson had him settled on the speed and was leading inside the 600m mark before being grabbed near the line by two swoopers, leaving him with the minor prize.

Ryan Maloney takes the reins here and from gate nine, he maps to cross and settle better than mid-field with cover.

In career-best form of late, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 7: No.1 Oughton

The Melissa Kelly-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks enough boxes to suggest he can figure in the finish of this event.

Last start, the More Than Ready gelding resumed off a 16-week spell and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in Open company, here over 1200m.

From the outside gate (12), Jace McMurray settled him back in the field and in the run home, held his own to finish just behind the placegetters.

Drawn better here in gate five, he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover.

Robbie Dolan has ridden the seven-year-old to victory twice previously and returns to steer the ship for this assignment.

Already a two-time winner when second-up and has saluted twice previously in Listed company, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 9: No.7 Formal

Nathan Doyle saddles-up Formal here who is north of the border for the first time and looks a serious chance of victory in this event.

Last start, the Newcastle-based gelding was fresh off a 17-week break and impressed when he beat all but one home in a BM68 over 1000m at Wyong.

Shannen Llewellyn settled him back in the field and in the run home, weaved through traffic to finish less than half a length from victory.

He draws wide here in gate 15 but maps to cross and settle near mid-field with Ben Thompson in the saddle for the first time.

Already a winner when second-up, a trouble-free run here can see him figure in the finish of this contest.
