Race 3: No.7 Microgravity
The Jason Deamer-trained galloper is off to a flying start with three top-two finishes to date and looks set to go on with it in this event,
Last start, the three-year-old son of The Autumn Sun broke through for his first win when he destroyed his rivals in a 1500m Maiden Hcp at Port Macquarie.
On a Heavy 9 that day, Luke Rolls settled him mid-field early before rolling off heels on the turn, then soon after found the front and raced away to win by five lengths on the line.
Taking on Class 1 company here, he draws gate nine (of 14) and maps to cross and settle near mid-field with Aaron Bullock as the new pilot for this assignment.
The forecast Soft 7 conditions look ideal for him today and with a clear run to the line, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 6: No.5 Saintly Sands
The Rod Northam-trained galloper is in great touch after three starts back and looks in with a winning chance in this event.
Last start, the Santos mare recorded her second career win when she clobbered her opposition in a Class 1/Maiden over 1600m at Warren.
On a Soft 7 track, she settled last of the 12 runners to the turn and sticking to the fence, Anna Weatherlake took advantage of the cutaway and with clear running room from the 400m mark, found the front and left them all in her wake, going on to score by five lengths over the line.
This BM58 looks no harder where she jumps from barrier eight and maps to settle back in the field with Weatherlake retaining the ride.
Fourth-up and at her peak today, conditions are ideal and with a trouble-free run, the four-year-old looks a major player in this contest.
Race 7: No.6 Not Written Off
Second-up today, the Cameron Crockett-trained galloper showed enough when resuming to suggest she has solid claims for victory in this event.
Last start, the Written By mare came off a 30-week absence and impressed by beating all but one home in a BM66 Hcp over 1000m at Muswellbrook.
Settling second, trailing the leader to the turn, she then took an inside path and soon after found the front but was run down by one better on the day.
From gate seven today, she maps to push forward early and settle near the speed with Braith Nock back for his second ride on the five-year-old.
Scratched from last Friday’s Dubbo meeting, the mare steps-up in grade here, facing BM82 company, but drops 3kgs in the process.
Already a winner when second-up and with conditions to suit, she looks in the mix to claim her fifth career win in this contest.
