Sale Racing Tips for July 26 – Diamond has his eye on the prize in Race 2

Sale racing takes place on Sunday, July 26, with a competitive country program set down for Sale.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our daily selections.

Race 2 No.11- Diamond Eye


Diamond Eye looks set to break through in Race 2. The four-year-old has had just the three career starts and was placed over the 1005m at Sale on June 28 behind Tan Tat Art and Crypt, who has since won and been sold to overseas interests. Diamond Eye then had a crack at a harder Maiden than this at Sandown last time and was doing her best work late when 4th over the 1200m, going just 0.6 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced in their careers. Step to the 1400m looks ideal and she should get similar track conditions to her last two runs. 

Race 4 No.2- Bemm River


Bemm River is another that looks set to break the Maiden in the first half of the Sale programme. The locally trained galloper was posted wide no cover on debut when a brave 5th over the 1005m before leading at his next start and being run down in the shadows of the post by Master Taj, with those two putting a gap on the rest of them. He ran very respectable time for a Maiden on Heavy ground and should be at getting right towards his peak. The son of Super One shouldn't have to work too hard from barrier 6 early on and is the one they have to catch in the straight. 

Race 5 No.2- Humza Bay


This is the pick of the eight races on offer with some promising types in action at BenchMark 70 level. Humza Bay was sent over from New Zealand after two wins and didnt quite fire in his two runs earlier this year at Cranbourne and Sale over slightly longer trips, while he did have some excuses in both of those. The Price/Kent Jnr gelding resumed over the 1200m at Sandown recently and jumped as a well-backed $3.30 favourite with that money proving to be spot on with him landing an impressive win ahead of Wolfy. The stable opt to stay to the 1200m and that does look his go. He is unbeaten in three starts on Heavy tracks and it will be a case of the wetter the better for the son of Belardo, who can box seat from the inside barrier. 

Race 6 No.1- Mainmankash


The market closer to the starting time might prove a better guide here but if the support comes for Mainmankash, we can back the four-year-old with confidence. Another local galloper, he has had three runs at his home track for a win and two runner-up podiums. He is likely to push up in the early stages from the wide barrier and has the early speed to either go to the lead or sit outside, depending on how the track is playing. The son of Cliff’s Edge comes in with a winning trial under the belt and will be ridden by Jason Maskiell, who is three from eight for the stable, providing a 40% profit on investment.
