The Team Munce-trained galloper is running into form and fourth-up here, looks a strong chance for victory in this event.
Last start, the Almanzor mare made it two-straight silver medal finishes when she beat all but one home in a Class 3 at set weights, here over 1600m.
Courtney Bellamy settled her back in the field before coming off heels on the turn, then as the widest runner, took control inside the final 250m but was grabbed by the $1.40 favourite (Margot’s Deel) in the closing stages, leaving her with second prize on the day.
Stepping-up to the 1800m here, she draws well in gate six and maps to take a sit back in the field with Bellamy in the saddle again.
At her peak here, a clear run to the line can see her fighting out the finish and is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 3: No.5 Larado
Matt Hoysted saddles-up Larado here who is second-up and ticks the right boxes that suggest he will be hard to beat in this event.
Last start, the Toronado gelding resumed off a lengthy 21-week absence and impressed when finishing third in a Class 3 set weights event over 1110m at Doomben.
Daniel Moor settled him back in the field before creeping into the race nearing the turn and lumping 60kgs on fresh legs, did well to claim the minor prize in the race.
Facing BM70 opposition here, he draws out in gate 10 (of 11) and maps to be following most of them on settling with Moor retaining the ride for this assignment.
Already a winner when second-up, the four-year-old is also a track and distance winner here and fitter for that first-up run, looks a main contender for victory in this contest.
Race 5: No.5 Lennox
The Team Archibald-trained galloper sees Eagle Farm for the first time here and after three starts back, looks ideally placed to take home the winner’s cheque in this event.
Last start, the English-sired gelding improved even further after two runs back when he beat all but one home in a BM80 Hcp over 2000m at Doomben.
From the outside gate (10), Ben Thompson settled him mid-field one off the fence and trailed them to the turn where he came off heels and down the centre of the track, finished strongly, out-bobbed by one better on the line.
Taking on BM78 company here, he gets the gun-run from gate one where he maps to do no early work as he settles mid-field or better on the fence with Thompson in charge again.
Fourth-up and at his peak here, he is already a winner over the trip and should be there at the finish of this contest.
