Race 3: No.3 Don’t Forget Jack
The Team Archibald-trained galloper is on great touch this preparation and ticks enough boxes here to be interested in his winning chances of this event.
Last start, the Headwater gelding was third-up when he finished best to claim victory in a BM72, here over 1400m with Braith Nock in the saddle.
He meets similar company here over the same trip with Nock retaining the ride.
A known back-marker, he does no early work here from gate four and maps to settle back in the field with cover.
With enough early speed in the race, a clear run to the line should be all he needs to lay down a serious challenge and claim back-to-back success in this contest.
Race 5: No.3 Livin’ Thing
The O’Shea & Charlton camp saddle-up Livin’ Thing here who is high-flying this time in and despite the class rise, looks the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the Yes Yes Yes gelding clobbered his rivals in a BM64 over 1000m on the Kensington track at Randwick.
Jace McMurray had him sitting mid-field with cover before finding clean air in the run home where he finished all over the top of them, crossing the line 1.5 lengths clear in the end.
He steps up to a BM72 contest here with McMurray steering the ship again and from gate five, maps to settle better than mid-field with cover all around him.
Fourth-up and at his peak here, he carries less weight and looks the testing material in the race.
Race 10: No.10 Liberty State
The Team Hawkes-trained galloper is second-up here and has done enough to suggest she can go back-to-back in this event.
Last start, the American Pharoah mare resumed after five months off the scene where she easily accounted for a BM78, here over 1200m.
With Dylan Gibbons aboard, she drew the carpark in gate 13 (of 14) and on a Heavy 8, settled back in the field, trapped four-wide without cover before finding plenty in the run home and arrived in time to grab the winner’s cheque.
Drawn much better in gate seven, she maps to settle mid-field with cover and has Jay Ford returning for his fifth ride on the mare.
The five-year-old ticks all the boxes here and unbeaten in two previous second-up appearances, she looks well worth an each-way ticket on this contest.
