Race 4: No.10 Skycatcher

The Cranbourne-based galloper has impressed with two starts in Sydney to date and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.

Last start, the Japanese-sired gelding made it five-straight podium finishes when he took out a BM72 Hcp over 1550m at Canterbury.

Punters sent him out an odds-on favourite ($1.90) and after settling mid-field, he didn’t disappoint, finishing too strong for them in the Heavy 8 conditions winning in a tight finish.

Drawn nicely in gate four here, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and with Dylan Gibbons as the new pilot, has conditions to suit and should prove hard to beat at the weights.

Race 6: No.3 Couples Retreat

The Team Archibald-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts this preparation and ticks all the boxes here that suggest she can win again.

Last start, the Super Seth mare was second-up and came in for solid support when she proved too good for them in a BM72, here over 1100m.

On a Heavy 9 that day, Mollie Fitzgerald celebrated her third win on the mare when she settled her mid-field before working into the race near the turn, then coming off heels on straightening, she ran home strongly and finished best to claim the gold medal in the race.

Meeting similar company here on the same track, she draws gate six and maps to settle better than mid-field with Fitzgerald steering the ship again.

Even fitter after two runs back, the four-year-old has plenty going for her here and looks a major player in this contest.

Race 7: No.12 Sanctified

The locally-trained galloper is in top-shelf form this time in and only has to overcome the wide gate to be in the mix for a second-straight victory in this event.

Last start, the Super Seth gelding came off back-to-back minor placings when he went one better by taking out a BM72 Hcp over 1300m at Warwick Farm.

On a Heavy 8, he drew wide in gate nine (of 12) and settled back in the field before tracking wide on the turn, then coming off heels and relishing the conditions, Josh Parr drove him to the line, finishing over the top of them and taking home the major prize in the race.

He draws gate 11 here and maps to push forward to settle near mid-field with Sam Clipperton as the new pilot.

The three-year-old has proven to be a consistent galloper boasting 10 podium finishes from his 14 starts to date and at his peak here, looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
