Belmont racing takes place on Saturday, June 13 with an 8-race program set down for the Belmont racetrack.

Race 3: No.2 Mt Shirataku

The Team Williams-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts back and with a little at the gates, can go back-to-back in this event.

Last start, the I'm All the Talk gelding comfortably won Heat 2 of the Westspeed Platinum Series, here over 1200m.

He settled just behind the speed with Lucy Fiore aboard, then on straightening, came off heels and soon after found the front then went on to score by more than a length on the line.

Drawn the carpark here in gate 18, its anyone’s guess what Fiore will do at barrier rise but the most probable plan will be to push forward early and cross to settle mid-field or better.

The boxes are ticked and suggest the four-year-old can do it again in this contest.

Race 4: No.10 Startling Star

The Michael Grantham-trained galloper has been mixing his form this time in but looks well placed here to make it two-straight in this event.

Last start, the well-bred Pierro mare came off an unplaced effort when she turned it all around by taking out a One Metro Win Hcp, here over 2100m.

William Pike had the reins that day and settled the mare back in the field, spotting the leader ten lengths at the halfway mark, then sticking to the fence, secured a dream inside passage and in the run home, ran down the front runner, going on to score by 1.5 lengths on the line.

From barrier eight here, she maps to drop back and settle at the rear of the 10-strong field with Pike at the helm again and drops 3.5kgs from that last start win.

At her peak here, the four-year-old should prove hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 7: No.11 Astro World

Team Williams saddle-up Astro World here who is in top-shelf form after three starts back and is well placed to bring-up career win number four in this event.

Last start, the Pierro mare came off a win here and made it three-straight top-two finishes when she beat all but one to the line in a Rating 66 Hcp over 1600m at Northam.

From the outside gate (13), William Pike eased her back to last on settling where she trailed the field to the turn, then tracked wide and straightened as the widest runner before running home strongly but gave them too much start and had to settle for second prize, beaten 1.5 lengths on the line.

Similar tactics could be applied here as she draws the outside gate (14) again with Pike in the saddle again.

Meeting similar company over the mile again and already a winner at the track and trip, the four-year-old will be at her peak here and a big show to collect the major prize in this contest.
