Race 5: No.14 Off The Press
The Todd Smart-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks enough boxes that suggest he can figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Press Statement gelding resumed after six months off the scene and impressed when he beat all but one home in a BM78 Hcp over 1100m at Rosehill.
Braith Nock settled him mid-field to the turn before tracking wide then in the run home, gathered momentum and finished strongly to grab second prize, beaten just a long neck on the line.
Nicely drawn in gate three here, he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover and has Nock steering the ship again.
Already a three-time winner when second-up, a clear run to the line here should see him finishing strongly this contest.
Race 6: No.3 Chilly Girl
The Rosehill-based galloper is unbeaten in two starts and second-up here, looks the one to beat again in this event.
Last start, the Trapeze Artist filly resumed after seven months in the paddock and simply picked-up where she left off, by taking out the Listed Rosebud over 1100m at Rosehill.
Ridden an absolute treat by Tim Clark, she was box-seating on settling before coming off heels on the corner, then slowly but surely wore down the leader, then went on to claim a worthy victory, a length clear on the line.
Ideally drawn in gate three here, she maps to be box-seating again with Clark in the saddle once more.
Going by her first-up performance, she clearly looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 10: No.6 Franz Josef
The Ryan & Alexiou-trained galloper is second-up here and with a little luck at barrier-rise, can give this event a real fright at odds.
Last start, the Snitzel gelding resumed after more than 18 months away from the track and in need of the run, finished sixth in a Three-Year-Old Hcp over 1400m at Rosehill.
Settling mid-field (of the 10 runners), he held his own to the turn and ran on gamely to finish five lengths from the winner.
Stepping-up to a more suitable 1600m trip here, he draws wide in gate 11 where he maps to cross and settle near mid-field with Kerrin McEvoy backing-up for the ride.
Already a winner at the track and has had success over the mile trip as well, he boasts being a two-time winner when second-up and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
