Morphettville Horse Racing (ALLSPORT)

Morphettville racing takes place on Saturday, May 31 with a 9-race program set down for Morphettville racetrack.

Race 4: No.7 Zippity Doodah
Race 6: No.9 Vintage Star
Race 8: No.5 Up The Den

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Morphettville racetrack.

Race 4: No.7 Zippity Doodah

The locally-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts back and despite the class rise here, looks a solid chance of figuring in this event.

Last start, the well-bred So You Think gelding went one better when second-up at Strathalbyn by taking out a Maiden Plate over 1350m.

He settled mid-field with Justin Potter aboard and after taking control over the final 200m, went on to win by 2.5 lengths in the end.

Third-up here, Todd Pannell is the new pilot and from gate seven, the three-year-old maps to settle near mid-field with cover.

Fitter for two runs back, he can give this a real shake at each-way odds.

Race 6: No.9 Vintage Star

The Team Jolly-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks all the boxes that suggest he is a prime candidate for the big prize in this event.

Last start, the Starspangledbanner gelding resumed after almost six months off the scene, and in need of the run, finished fifth in a BM78, here over 1000m with Jake Toeroek in the saddle.

Never on the track, he settled mid-field four horses off the fence without cover, costing him any chance of victory in the sprint.

Fitter for that run, he draws well in gate five here where he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover and has Manoel Nunes as the new pilot for this assignment.

A proven track specialist with two wins here under his belt, he is also a two-time winner when second-up and given a trouble-free run here, he should be fighting out the finish and looks well worth an each-way ticket on the contest.

Race 8: No.5 Up The Den

The Michael Hickmott-trained galloper has impressed after three race starts and second-up here, looks a strong chance of back-to-back success in this event.

Last start, the well-bred Pride Of Dubai gelding resumed off a nine-week break and on fresh legs, proved too good when taking out a BM66 over 1050m at Oakbank.

With Todd Pannell aboard, he crossed from gate seven (of 8) and led from barrier to box, holding off the challenges.

He draws out in barrier eight here but maps to be on the speed when they settle as Pannell remains in the saddle for this assignment.

The three-year-old won second-up last preparation and with a trouble-free run here, he looks set to do it again.
