Race 3: No.7 Hello Dolly Diva
The Paul Wallace-trained galloper has only missed one podium finish in her seven career starts to date and second-up today, looks well placed for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Australian-sired mare resumed off a 13-week spell and turned plenty of heads when she broke through for her first win when she destroyed her rivals in a 1300m Maiden at Toowoomba.
Les Tilley settled her back in the field before threading her way through traffic on the turn, then securing clean air nearer the fence, she darted though the gap and came off the heels in front of her, before grabbing the lead inside the final 200m and raced away to put more than four lengths on them over the line.
Drawn out in gate ten here, she maps to cross and settle back in the field again with Tilley retaining the ride for this assignment.
Proving to be a promising prospect, boasting a win and five runner-up finishes to date, a clear run to the line here puts here right on contention for the major prize in this contest.
Race 4: No.4 I Drove All Night
The Bree Wiblen-trained galloper finally found his mojo after eight career starts and now looks ready to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Better Than Ready gelding continued on his path of improvement when he chalked-up his first win by taking out a Maiden Hcp over 1920m at Toowoomba.
Les Tilley settled him two pairs back on the fence before coming off heels on the turn, then in the run home, finished far too strong for them and went on to win by a length on the line.
From gate five today, he maps to settle just behind the speed with Tilley steering the ship again.
Making his Ipswich debut today and in winning form, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 5: No.4 Artistic Endeavour
The Kelly Schweida-trained galloper is three starts into this campaign and returning to country racing, looks well placed here to stake his claim for victory in this event.
Last start, the Better Than Ready gelding was third-up when finishing unplaced in a BM65 Hcp over 1350m against city-class opposition at Doomben.
From the outside gate, Cejay Graham eased him back to the tail of the field to the turn, then in the run home, although never a winning chance, did run home well in the end.
Dropping in grade (and class) here, he draws gate six and maps to settle near mid-field with Jag Guthmann-Chester as the new pilot.
Fourth-up and at his peak, he should find this task a little easier today and should prove hard to beat in this contest.
