Race 3: No.5 Avista
The Scone-based galloper is third-up here and a fourth-straight win looks a distinct possibility in this event.
Last start, the Maurice mare franked her first-up win when she destroyed her rivals in a BM66 over 1500m at Muswellbrook.
Sent out at un-backable odds ($1.16), she settled back in the field of seven to the turn, before tracking wide then in the run home, cruised to the lead and under hands and heels by Aaron Bullock, she crossed the line 4.5 lengths clear, eased over the final 100m of the race.
Facing city class opposition for the first time here, she draws well in gate four and maps to settle in the back half of the field with James McDonald in the saddle for the first time.
Coming off a winning hat-trick here, she looks the testing material again in this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Prima Bella
The Matt Smith-trained galloper is in great touch this time in and with a significant drop in weight today, looks a solid chance of going back-to-back in this event.
Last start, the Per Incanto mare chalked-up win number two for this campaign when she claimed victory in a BM78 Hcp over 1000m down the Flemington straight course.
Fast away, she co-led on settling before taking a clear lead inside the final 200m and although clearly headed over the final 100m, fought back strongly to grab victory right on the line with Harry Coffey aboard.
Stepping-up to BM88 company here, she draws well in gate six and maps to cross and settle in the first half-dozen with Mollie Fitzgerald aboard for the first time.
After the claim, she carries 5.5kgs less for that last start win and at her peak here, the six-year-old could prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 10: No.3 Columbia Blue
The Joe Pride-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts back and should prove hard to toss in this event.
Last start, the Yes Yes Yes gelding went one better than his first-up effort and took out a BM78 over 1200m at Rosehill.
From gate nine, Nash Rawiller settled him mid-field, six lengths off the speed before tracking wide on the turn and in the run home, finished best to claim the gold medal on the line.
Meeting similar company here, he jumps from gate seven and to cross and settle mid-field early with Adam Hyeronimus back for his third ride on the gelding.
Placed when third-up previously, a trouble-free run here can see the five-year-old figure in the finish of this contest.
