Race 3: No.5 Vermeer
The Team Lee-trained galloper is four starts into this campaign and should now be ready to produce his best in this event.
Last start, the Zoustar gelding took home fourth prize in a set weights Class 6 over 2200m at Grafton.
Settling just behind the speed, he held his ground to the turn, then ran home fairly, finishing four lengths from the winner.
A winner of just three races to date, his latest efforts against stronger opposition have been first class.
Dropping sharply in grade here, he lines-up against BM65 company and from the outside gate (9), maps to cross and settle just behind the speed.
Already a two-time winner at the track, the six-year-old should find things more to her liking here and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 5: No.5 Luconi
Jack Bruce saddles-up Luconi here who is second-up and in good stride to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Nicconi gelding resumed after six months off the scene and impressed when he beat all but one home in a Class 4 Hcp over 1400m at the Gold Coast.
Bella Youngberry settled him mid-field to the turn before tracking wide on the turn, then came down the centre of the track and finished off strongly, arriving in time to grab the silver medal, beaten a long neck on the line.
Facing an easier task here, she takes on BM64 opposition and from gate four, maps to settle just behind the speed with James Orman (back from Hong Kong) as the new pilot.
Placed twice when second-up previously, she will strip fitter for that first-up run and with a trouble-free run here, looks a prime candidate for the winner’s purse in this contest.
Race 6: No.9 Royal Gladiator
The Darryl Hansen-trained galloper has been in good touch this time in and looks a sneaky chance for a podium finish in this event.
Last start, the Jungle Cat gelding racked-up his fourth top-three finish this preparation when he beat all but one home in a BM62 over 1300m at the Sunshine Coast.
Ridden a treat by Taylor Marshall, he was box-seating on settling before coming off heels on the turn, then soon after took control and looked the winner before he grabbed right on the line by a swooper, taking home second prize on the day.
Facing BM65 company here, he drops in weight and from gate nine, maps to cross and settle in the first half-dozen with Marshall in the saddle again.
In career-best form this campaign, he finished runner-up at his only start on this track and with a clear run to the line, the five-year-old can go one better in this contest.
