Echuca Racing Tips for June 23 – Last start Wangaratta winner to sparkle again on Heavy track

Echuca racing takes place on Tuesday, June 23, with a nine-race program set down for Echuca.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is one of four from around Australia on Tuesday that we are covering in our daily tips.

Race 6 No.6- Sparkles


Sparkles can just about make it back to back wins when she steps out in Race 6. The four-year-old took 10 starts to break her Maiden with that coming at Wangaratta last time on a Heavy track overcoming a wide run to edge past Jimmy Beans late in the piece. She clearly liked the going that day and is set to strike similar conditions in this race. At Wangaratta, the daughter of Grunt achieved a career peak by going 2.5 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is seven lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. She draws to enjoy a better run this time around and this does not look to be a huge step up. 

Race 7 No.7- Give Some Lip


This looks to be a suitable assignment for Give Some Lip. The five-year-old has had the three runs this time in and was runner-up in this grade two starts ago behind Zamparini Spirit. He then tackled a harder race at Sandown and was slowly away but kept coming in the straight to place 4th behind Ultra Blue on a Heavy 8 over the 1400m. The Reece Goodwin-trained galloper drops back in grade and will be at peak fitness after three runs. He will settle back from the barrier and just needs an even tempo to cart into the race, where he can do his best work at the business end.
