Sandown Racing Tips for June 3 – Promising galloper set to take out last race at Sandown
- Miss Lola (Race 1) is favored to break maiden after consistent placings.
- Amping Lass (Race 6) can improve to win after a narrow last-start defeat.
- Rodriguez (Race 8) offers value with strong late runs and step up in trip.
Sandown racing takes place on Wednesday, June 3, with a program set down for Sandown.
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is part of our wider midweek racing coverage that can be found in our daily tips.
Race 1 No.12- Miss Lola
She is yet to win in eight starts and keeps finding a way to miss out with five placings to her credit but Miss Lola is the one they have to beat in the opener. The Chris Waller filly resumed at Moe recently and drew wide before crossing over to sit outside the leader, Golden Magnate. Those two went at a solid tempo for Maiden grade and went to war a long way out with Golden Magnate just getting the upper hand, while there was eight lengths back to the 3rd horse. Miss Lola comes to Sandown second up and went 3.2 lengths faster than standard at Moe, which is six lenghts better than the next best last start figures of any runner. She improved five lengths on figures at this stage of her last prep when runner-up at Warwick Farm, while she was unlucky not to pick up at least one win in her remaining runs. She should handle the Soft deck and can finally break the duck.
Race 6 No.3- Amping Lass
Amping Lass can go one spot better than a last start effort that saw her finish runner-up behind I’m Foxing on the Caulfield Heath a fortnight ago. The Moody/Coleman galloper botched the start, before settling worse than midfield and coming home with the fastest last 400m to miss in very narrow fashion. That came on a Soft deck and her best performances this time in have been in similar going. The daugther of Wooten Bassett can settle a little closer this time around from barrier 3.
Race 8 No.7- Rodriguez
Keen on Rodriguez in the final race of the day. The promising galloper comes off a five-start debut campiaign that saw him win two and finish runner-up in two more. He resumed over the 1000m on May 20 and began poorly before rocketing home late to place 3rd behind Electric Star. He had trialled well heading into that and went a healthy six lengths faster than standard, indicating that he has come back in solid touch. At his initial campiagn, the Brian McGrath-trained galloper improved 11 lengths on benchmark figures to score on Heavy ground when second up and the step to the 1200m suits.
