Race 5: Class 3 Plate (1200m) – Razors
The Jack Bruce-trained gelding resumed on Saturday and after six months off the scene did well to finish third in this event.
Settling fourth, one off the fence, he tracked the leaders into the home straight and ran home strongly to grab the minor prize, beaten just 2.5 lengths on the line.
He will only strip fitter for that first-up effort and should be winning again soon.
Race 6: Class 3 Plate (1200m) – Thats Archies Girl
The Per Incanto mare was second-up on Saturday and turned heads when she was a fast finishing third in this event.
Michael Rodd settled her back near the tail of the field and was spotting the leaders ten lengths early on then in the run home, weaved through traffic and doing her best work late, hit the line hard and arrived in time to grab the bronze medal.
A $21 chance in the race, the five-year-old made up a ton of ground late, beaten just 1.5 lengths in the end and will only improve further off that run.
Race 9: Benchmark 85 Hcp (1350m) – Noble Conqueror
The Chris Waller-trained galloper was fresh off a 19-week break when he produced the finish of the day by taking out the last event on the card.
The $41 outsider in the race settled last in the nine-horse field and on straightening, could still see them all before storming down the centre of the track arriving just in time to grab victory right on the post.
Already a winner when second-up, he performs even better over further ground so keep him safe for now.
