Bairnsdale Racing Tips for August 4 – Promising Hayes galloper to continue perfect start
- Jourama drops in grade and rates top pick for Race 2.
- Azzurri Queen expected to improve and contend in Race 3.
- My China Plate aims for two straight after dominant debut win in Race 8.
Bairnsdale racing takes place on Tuesday, August 4, with a competitive country meeting set down for Bairnsdale.
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our preview of racing from around Australia on Tuesday.
Race 2 No.11- Jourama
Jourama should be hard to beat in Race 2. The Godolphin galloper has had just the two career starts for a runner-up at Newcastle on debut before a 4th at Caulfield in the $1 million VOBIS Showdown when going a lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is nearly five lengths better than what any runner in this race has produced. This is a decent drop in grade and he comes in with a couple of trials under the belt, while the son of Frosted draws ideally in barrier 3.
Race 3 No.3- Azzurri Queen
Solid debut by Azzurri Queen at Moe a couple of weeks ago and the four-year-old can go a couple of spots better in this race. At Moe, the Matt Lauire-trained galloper drove up from the wide barrier to settle handy and stuck on well to run a half a length 3rd behind Regal Vanguard. She will take improvement out of that and had trialled well heading in. The daughter of Blue Point draws wide again but has the early speed to put herself into the race with Pat Moloney on board.
Race 8 No.10- My China Plate
My China Plate can make it two from two when she steps out in the final race of the afternoon. The Hayes galloper made her debut over the 1000m at the July 13 meeting and settled outside the leader before kicking clear to win by three lengths ahead of Captive Rock. Interesting to note that out of the beaten brigade, only the 7th placegetter has had a run since, taking out a Maiden at Wangaratta by four lenghts last Friday. My China Plate comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner and this does not look to be a difficult step up in grade. Teo Nugent rides and is three from nine for the stable, providing a 22% profit on investment.
