Caulfield Racing Tips for June 17 – South Aussie galloper can surprise at double figures in the last
- Bine is a strong each-way hope in Race 6 after a sharp return.
- Cavalry Girl can improve second up in Race 7 with top jockey stats.
- Dancing Storm has a good fresh record and could surprise in Race 8.
Caulfield racing takes place on Wednesday, June 17, with an eight-race program to be run on the Heath circuit at Caulfield.
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is one of four from around Australia that are featured in our midweek tips.
Race 6 No.9- Bine
Bine shapes as an each-way contender in Race 6. The five-year-old produced an encouraging run when resuming from a spell at the track and trip on May 27, settling last in the field of 10 before running on with the fastest late splits to finish runner-up behind Along The River. The Tom Dabernig mare maps well for this with sufficient speed up ahead of her and her best performances have come in similar circumstances where she can smother up in a midfield spot and utilise her strong finishing burst. She meets the winner out of her fresh run 2kg better at the weights and will improvement to come second up.
Race 7 No.3- Cavalry Girl
Cavalry Girl can go a couple of spots better than a first up effort that saw her finish runner-up behind Saluted over the 1000m here on May 20. She was a tad slow to begin in that race and was restrained to sit just off them in the small field then flashed home to land half a length off Saluted. Another from the Dabernig stable, she just needs a better getaway and the wide barrier might suit as she can push across to take up the running. The daughter of Bivouac was a second up winner at her last prep and had form in some good races, while she also trialled well leading into her fresh run. Craig Williams rides and strikes at a very healthy 29% for the stable, providing a 39% profit on investment.
Race 8 No.1- Dancing Storm
Dancing Storm shapes as a sneaky chance in the final race of the day at Caulfield. The South Aussie comes in with two months in between runs and was 4th in a couple of harder races than this when crossing the border in the autumn. The four-year-old is yet to finish out of the placings in five runs when fresh and will camp a few pairs back on the rails. The son of Sir Prancelot loves a track with a bit of give in it and if the gaps open up at the right time with the 3kg claimer, Emily Pozman, on board, he can be a major player at the business end.
