Race 7: Polyglot
The Michael Freedman-trained gelding was second-up on Saturday and finished bridesmaid yet again with J.Mac in the saddle.
The Lonhro four-year-old settled back in the field and turning for home, was spotting them a healthy start before storming home to grab the silver medal in the BM78 Hcp over 1100m.
He has found the podium seven times from his nine career starts to date and now fitter for two runs back, it would be unwise to walk away from him at tis stage as he is knocking loudly on the door for another win.
Race 9: Strathtay
The Chris Waller-trained galloper resumed off an 11-week spell on Saturday and impressed when finishing fourth (of 18) with Zac Lloyd in the saddle.
Sent out a $61 chance, Lloyd settled him worse than mid-field, spotting the leader (and race favourite, Estadio Mestalla) eight lengths before taking the turn wide and whilst very little chance of winning, ran home strongly to finish fourth, beaten just three lengths on the line in the BM100 Hcp.
Already a winner when second-up (and two-time winner when third-up), it should pay dividends to follow him for a few more yet.
Race 10: Disneck
The Bjorn Baker-trained galloper was second-up on Saturday and a certainty beaten when finishing sixth in the BM88 Hcp over 1200m.
Josh Parr settled the Trapeze Artist gelding mid-field on the fence and travelled sweetly to the turn where Parr stuck to the fence and was making up ground when the gaps all closed on him, having to stop riding to avoid trouble.
Only clear over the final 50 metres, the five-year-old got going again when it was all over and beaten 1.5 lengths, should have finished a lot closer.
Also a winner when second-up, and twice successful when third-up, stick with him for now.
