Race 1: BM72 Midway Hcp (1400m) – Barrengarry
The Kembla Grange-based galloper resumed on Saturday after five months off the scene and impressed by taking out the first of the day in style.
Trapped three-deep from the outset, he straightened up second last and five lengths off the lead but stormed home to win by more than a length on the line.
Boasting three wins from his six starts to date and already a winner when second-up, it will pay to find a spot for him in the black book.
Race 2: Class 3 Highway Hcp (1200M) – Lord Remlap
The Scott Singleton-trained galloper was fresh after 18 weeks in the paddock and remain unbeaten with a bold performance in this event.
Jumping from the car park in gate 13 (of 16), he settled worse than mid-field and was never on the track before finding another effort in the run home where he ran over the top of them in a blanket finish, taking first prize by a long neck on the line.
Now four from four and looking most likely to go on with it from here, he certainly warrants following this preparation.
Race 5: Benchmark 78 (1200m) – Decorum
Coming off a six-month absence, the Michael Freedman-trained galloper defied all the odds and put in the best performance of the day by taking out this event.
From gate 13 of 15, he settled back in the field to the turn, then was caught up in traffic before Tim Clark managed to weave his way through and when he finally found clear running room, the four-year-old stormed home to take the gold medal, putting more than two lengths on them over the line.
Unbeaten in two previous second-up appearances, it would be wise to keep him under notice at his next start this preparation.
