Steve Bennett picks out his blackbookers and horses to follow from Saturday racing at Randwick on 28 February.

Race 2: Highway Hcp (1000m) – Neil

The Matt Dunn-trained galloper was second-up on Saturday and did a mighty job to finish second in this event with Nash Rawiller in the saddle. Trying to lead all the way, he set a decent speed for the trip and was still full of running inside the final 400m but was run down in the closing stages by one carrying 6kgs less weight. The Headwater gelding is already a winner when third-up so stick with him for now.

Race 6: Guy Walter Stakes (Gp.2) (1400m) – Arctic Glamour

The Frosted mare resumed after 11 weeks off the scene and with two trials under her belt showed enough to be interested in when she came from last on the turn to grab third prize in the Group 2 event. Always back in the field, Tom Sherry scouted wide on the turn only then to turn back inside and look for the gaps which came eventually but not soon enough for the mare to be in a winning position, still only beaten a length on the line. Already a winner when second-up, the five-year-old looks well worth following for a few more yet.

Race 10: BM88 Hcp (1200m) – Mal Coupe

The Xtravagant gelding just keeps on winning and on Saturday, recorded his fifth-straight victory when he clobbered his rivals in the BM88 event. James McDonald had him settled third, stalking the two leaders, before crossing heels in the run home and put paid to them in the blink of an eye, going on to score by 1.5 lengths in a canter. The four-year-old has come from winning a BM68 (in July last year) to toying with a BM88 field at metropolitan grade just eight months later. Big things look in store for this galloper.
