Steve Bennett picks out his blackbookers and horses to follow from Saturday racing at Eagle Farm on 14 February.

Race 1: Two-Year-Old Hcp (1000m) – Pembrey

The Tony Gollan-trained juvenile was most impressive on debut and seems to have a big future ahead after she destroyed her rivals in this event.

Drawn the outside gate (7), Ben Thompson took her straight to the lead where she led them to turn, before turning on a brilliant turn-of-foot and left them all to fight out the minors as she hit the line, hands and heels only, putting 5.5 lengths on them.

Could this be the sign of things to come ? Don’t takes chances with this Prague filly, stick her in the blackbook as one to follow.

Race 2: BM78 Hcp (1000m) – Moonhaven

The Mark Currie-trained gelding was second-up on Saturday and turned plenty of heads with his winning performance in this event.

Last to leave the machine, he passed a couple before the turn and when finally clear, sprinted past the rest and went on to score by almost three lengths on the line.

That’s now four wins from his 20 career starts and there looks like more on the way so keep him safe for a few starts.

Race 7: Hcp (1400m) – Green Fly

The Team Freedman-trained galloper relished the soft track conditions on Saturday and put in a last-to-first effort, claiming victory in this event while carrying top weight of 60kgs.

Tailed-off on settling, the Frankel gelding stuck to the inside fence until the turn where he crossed off heels and found the middle of the track and finished right over the top of them, winning by almost a length on the line.

Already a two-time winner when third-up, it may pay to stay with him for his next couple of outings, in particular on rain affected tracks.
