The Steele Casey-trained galloper is second-up today and looks set for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Snippetson gelding resumed after six months off the scene and impressed when he scored his first career win by taking out a set weights Maiden over 1300m at Northam.
From gate 10 (of 14), Lucy Fiore had him settled third but was trapped three-deep to the turn and in the run home, kept finding plenty and hung on to win by a whisker on the line.
Stepping-up to Class 1 competition here, he draws much better today in gate three with Fiore steering the ship again.
Yet to miss a podium finish in three starts and fitter here off that first-up win, the three-year-old looks set to go on with it in this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Cinque Stelle
First-up today, the Steele Casey-trained galloper resumes after 19 weeks in the paddock and after a recent successful trial, looks ready to perform in this event.
Last start, the Toronado filly wound-up her first campaign by beating home all but one in a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1000m.
William Pike settled her outside the leader to the turn, then fought hammer and nail all the way home but was unable to gain the upper hand, beaten a neck on the line.
Resuming work last week, she won a Lark Hill trial, in preparation for her return to the track today and from the outside gate (10), maps to push forward and settle near the speed with Pike in control again.
Already a winner when first-up and a track and winner as well, the three-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 7: No.4 Shimonoseki
The Justine Erkelens-trained galloper is high-flying after four starts in this campaign and looks ideally placed here for back-to-back wins in this event.
Last start, the Extreme Choice mare made it three-straight podium finishes when she took out a Class 3 Hcp over 1600m at Northam.
She settled back in the field before tracking wide and taking the turn via the cape as she straightened the widest of field, then stormed home to claim first prize on the line.
Meeting similar company here, she draws gate five and maps to settle in the back half of the field with Shaun O’Donnell returning after steering the mare to victory twice previously.
Already a track and trip winner and at her peak today, the four-year-old should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
