Race 3: No.6 Modern Girl
The Sue Naylor-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts back and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Australian-sired mare came off her first-up runner-up finish and went one better when she broke through and scored her first win by destroying her rivals in a 1000m Maiden at Bunbury.
Lucy Fiore had her leading from the outset and in the run home, ran them off their legs, crossing the line 4.5 lengths clear in the end.
Facing Class 1 company here, she draws gate seven and maps to cross and settle in the first half-dozen with Fiore in the saddle again.
Coming off that big win, the four-year-old should prove hard to beat again in this contest.
Race 4: No.2 Back To Bondi
The Trevor Andrews-trained galloper has been racing in tough company of late and down sharply in grade here, looks better suited and will challenge for victory in this event.
Last start, the Bondi gelding made it back-to-back podium finishes when he claimed third prize in a Class 3 Hcp over 1500m on the Scarpside track at Pinjarra.
From gate two, Steven Parnham had him leading on settling to the turn, then slipped away to lead by two lengths before being run down by two stronger at the finish.
Dropping back to Class 1 competition here, he draws well in gate five and maps to settle on or near the speed with Holly Nottle at the new pilot.
At his peak after four starts back, the four-year-old will appreciate the drop in class and placed here two start back, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Poblano
Jason Miller saddles-up Poblano here who is in great touch this preparation and looks set to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Irish-sired mare made it consecutive runner-up prizes when she beat all but one home in a Three-Year-Old & Up Hcp, here over 1300m.
William Pike had her box-seating on settling to the turn, then sticking to the fence, secured clean air and took over halfway home but was out-gunned by the topweight and beaten a neck on the line.
Meeting similar company here, she drops back to the 1200m trip and from gate five, maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Pike steering the ship again.
Already a track & distance winner and at her peak now, the five-year-old looks a major player for the big prize in this contest.
