Race 4: No.4 Hard As Brok
The David Vandyke-trained galloper is third-up today and looks well placed to claim victory in this event.
Last start, the All Too Hard gelding showed improvement when he claimed third prize in a BM60 over 1400m at Gatton.
Settling back in the field, he tracked them to the turn before securing a split soon after straightening and while no match for the first two past the post, arrived in time to claim the minor prize for the event.
Drawn well in gate three here, he maps to settle near mid-field with Jag Guthmann-Chester back for his second ride on the three-year-old.
Fitter for those two runs back and over the longer and more suitable 1650m journey, the blinkers go back on and with a clear run to the line, he looks a major player in this contest.
Race 5: No.9 Do What I Say
The Nick Keal-trained galloper has been in good touch (without winning) this time in and deserves a change of luck in this event.
Last start, the Rothesay filly made it a hat-trick of runner-up finishes when she beat all but one to the line in a BM60 Hcp, here over 1200m.
On a Heavy 10 that day, she settled mid-field to the turn, then as the field swung wide on the turn, she secured a dream rails-run and fought on gamely in the run home, beaten half a length by a swooper near the line.
From gate seven, she maps to settle near mid-field with Turner retaining the ride for this assignment.
Down in grade today, she is at her peak this preparation and now with track experience behind her, the three-year-old looks ready to turn these minor placings into a victory in this contest.
Race 7: No.3 Difronzo
Team Archibald saddle-up Difronzo here who is high-flying after two starts back and looks set to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Street Boss gelding was second-up from a five-month break and broke through for his first win by taking out a Maiden Plate, here over 1400m.
In heavy conditions, Jag Guthmann-Chester settled him second outside the leader to the turn, then soon after took control and went on to score a convincing win in the end.
Facing similar conditions here, he draws gate seven and maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Guthmann-Chester at the helm again.
Placed when third-up last preparation and now a winner at the track and distance, he should take a ton of beating in this contest.
