Bendigo Racing Tips for June 25 – Light up with Scoobartie early on at Bendigo

Bendigo racing takes place on Thursday, June 25, with an eight program set down for Bendigo.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is one of five meetings from around Australia on Thursday that we are previewing in our daily tips.

Race 2 No.4- Scoobartie


He might be a bit of a bridesmaid so far by coming runner-up in four of his six career starts and 3rd in another but it is hard to ignore Scoobartie in Race 2. The locally-trained galloper comes off two races in Swan Hill at his current preparation and form out of those has been rock solid when filling the exacta, while gapping the rest. He went down to Yuuki when resuming and that horse went on to claim a 0-62 race at Seymour before a last start effort that saw him go down to Boyd. The 3rd horse home has since taken out his Maiden by four lengths at Wangaratta. Scoobartie went four lengths slower than standard benchmark last time, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced in their careers, while he should enjoy the favours from barrier 1 with Brad Rawiler to ride. 

Race 5 No.8- Hi Val


Hi Val can be an improver in Race 8. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper was well beaten on a Heavy track when resuming in a stronger race than this at Sandown earlier this month but gets to a better surface here and will strip fitter. She copped a heavy bump early at Sandown and was never really in it in a race that rated well. The daughter of Frosted was an improver second up at her last preparation then defeated Concord Connie at Ballarat. That horse looks to be a future star and has won all three outings since then by a combined margin of nine lengths. Despite missing out at Sandown, Hi Val comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner and just needs an ounce of luck early on from barrier 14 to be a factor here.

Race 6 No.11- Pocket Size


This looks to be a suitable assignment for Pocket Size. The five-year-old has not won in over a year but has been close in a couple of her runs this time in, finishing runner-up at Cranbourne two starts ago before tackling a BenchMark 70 at Caulfield last time and placing 5th behind Saluted. She drops in grade for this and was a winner at her only go at the track and trip, while she gets the 3kg claim for Nadia Daniels, who provides a 31% profit on investment when combining with the stable.
