The Gary Doughty-trained galloper is in great touch this time in and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.

Last start, the Irish-sired gelding recorded his second career win when he destroyed his rivals in a BM60 Hcp over 1050m on the synthetic track at the Gold Coast.

Jumping from gate 10 (of 11), Brandon Lerena pushed him forward at barrier rise and found the front, then went on with it in the run home, putting more than five lengths on the field over the line.

He meets similar company here back on a turf track where he draws gate seven and maps to settle on the speed with Lerena steering the ship again.

A dual acceptor today, the stable have scratched him from race four in preference to sending him around in this contest and with a trouble-free run, he should prove hard to run down.

Race 7: No.4 Vacillation

Maryann Brosnan saddles-up Vacillation here who is second-up and ticks all the boxes that suggest another win here is definitely on the cards in this event.

Last start, Snitzel gelding resumed after 11 weeks off the scene when he finished a close-up third in a BM65 over 1400m at Gatton.

Drawn out in gate nine (of 11), he settled back mid-field but caught three-wide without cover before being pratted even wider on the turn where he straightened the widest of all but still managed to take ground off them and arrive in time to grab the minor prize on the day.

Stepping-up to a more suitable 1650m trip today, he draws ideally in gate two and maps to settle just behind the speed with Adin Thompson retaining the ride for this assignment.

The four-year-old is a track specialist, boasting two wins and as many runner-up finishes from his four starts here and already a winner when second-up, he looks the testing material in this contest.

Race 8: No.1 Weona Redwood

The David Vandyke-trained galloper has been in good touch of late and coming back to the country scene here, looks much better placed for a victory in this event.

Last start, the Redwood gelding did well to finish fourth in a BM60 over 1980m at Ipswich.

With Jett Newman aboard, he lumped 60.5kgs (after the claim) on a Heavy 10 that day and from the outside gate (8), led early before giving it up and settling second, then approaching the turn, lost his position and straightened-up last of the eight, then found a second wind and ran home well to finish just behind the placegetters in the end.

With conditions not as bad here, he draws wide in gate ten and maps to push forward and settle near mid-field with cover.

Apprentice Rob Thorburn is the new pilot today where the four-year-old steps-up to the 2450m trip for the first time and against country class rivals today, looks in the mix for a podium finish in this contest.
