Bairnsdale Racing Tips for June 12 – Can Magnardo make it nine wins in a row?

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is one of two on Friday in Victoria, coinciding with a nice winter meeting at Ballarat.

Can’t Be Reel is set to break through in Race 2 at Bairnsdale. The Matt Laurie-trained galloper has placed in both of his career starts thus far and lined up as a $1.65 favourite at Mornington last time but could only manage 3rd behind Nitro Sonic when not quite finishing off as expected. This is an easier Maiden and the son of Highland Reel went 2.4 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner and suggests a win should not be too far away. He will be fitter now at his third run and the stable go for a few gear changes. 

Going with Magnardo to keep the streak going in Race 7. The four-year-old has won eight on the trot, going from dominant picnic wins to score at Mornington at her past couple. She overcame a poor start last time before working up to settle handy and still proved too good. The Reece Goodwin mare comes in with a freshen up since then and has the early speed to overcome the wide barrier. Stick with her.
