Race 3: No.3 Swift Duke
The Ben Ahrens-trained galloper has improved after three starts back and now looks ready to strike in this event.
Last start, the Spieth gelding finished second again when he beat all but one to the line in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at Doomben.
Danny Peisley settled him near mid-field on the fence before coming off heels on the turn, then darting back to the inside, he secured a rails run and finished strongly along the fence but was beaten to the line by one better on the day.
Lining-up against BM60 opposition here, he draws ideally in gate two and maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence with Jag Guthmann-Chester as the new pilot.
Fourth-up and at his peak here, he comes off two metro-minor placings and returns to country racing where he looks a real winning chance in this contest.
Race 5: No.6 Straight Blast
The Stephen Kirkwood-trained galloper is second-up here and down in grade, looks the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the Peltzer gelding resumed after 27 weeks off the scene and made it look easy when he took out a Class 3 Hcp over 1200m at Dalby.
With Isabel Jessop in the saddle, he settled outside the leader to the turn, then on straightening, took control and from there, never looked in danger of losing, passing the post 1.5 lengths clear in the end.
Drawn well in gate four here, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and has Jessop steering the ship again.
Placed at his only start here and fitter off that first-up effort, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 8: No. 11 Lambertina
Natilie McCall saddles-up Lambertina here who is in great touch of late and down slightly in grade here, looks a serious contender for the winner’s share of the purse in this event.
Last start, the Blue Point mare made it three podium finishes from her past four starts when she beat all but one home in a BM62 Hcp, over 1400m at Dalby.
Tiff Brooker settled her outside the leader in the small field of five and from there shadowed the front runner to the turn, then took over soon after and looked set to go on with it but was run down late by one better on the day, beaten just a neck on the line.
Taking on BM60 company here, in a much bigger field, she draws barrier eight and maps to settle better than mid-field with Georgina Cartwright as the new pilot.
In great touch and already a track and distance winner here, the four-year-old looks set to test this field in this contest.
