Race 2: No.6 Real Deluxe
The locally-trained Real Deluxe is unbeaten after two starts back and looks ideally placed here to ring-up the hat-trick in this event.
Last start, the Sessions filly came off a monster Maiden win when fresh before franking that effort and going back-to-back, winning a 1000m contest at Belmont with William Pike on board for the first time.
The three-year-old returns here off a six-week let-up where she meets similar company over the same distance and has Pike sticking with her as well.
She has to carry 5kgs more in this event but has the runs on the board and from gate two, maps to be leading them on settling.
Even fitter for two runs back, she will take catching in this contest.
Race 6: No.5 Here For The Cheques
The Bernie Miller-trained Here For The Cheques is second-up in this event and ticks all the boxes that suggest he is a prime candidate for victory.
Last start, the Universal Ruler gelding resumed of an 18-week break when he did well to beat all but one home in a 1MW event, here over 1400m.
With regular rider Patrick Carbery in the saddle, he drew the carpark (gate 14 of 16) and settled mid-field, three-wide without cover, before showing good speed in the run home and arrived in time to grab the silver medal for the race.
From gate six, he maps to settle in the first half dozen (with cover this time) and has Carbery sticking with him for this assignment.
Already a two-time winner when second-up and has enjoyed success over the track and distance twice previously, an each-way ticket here looks the go.
Race 7: No.11 Toropa
The Vernon Brockman-trained Toropa has finished top-two in all seven career-starts to date and looks set to continue on that path in this event.
Last start, the Toronado mare beat all but one home in a BM72, here over 1000m with regular rider Brad Parnham in the saddle.
She was slowly away and used up plenty of fuel to overcome the poor start and did well to finish second in the 11-strong field that day.
She steps up in grade here, taking on BM78 gallopers but is dropping 2kgs in the process and has Parnham steering the ship again.
Ideally drawn in gate three, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen with cover and have the last crack at them in the run home.
Already a three-time winner at the 1200m trip, the return to that distance here looks ideal for her after just missing over the 1000m at her past two starts.
With the boxes ticked and the runs on the board, she looks a serious contender in this contest.
Race 8: No.5 West Star
The Simon Miller-trained West Star looks a very promising galloper who is second-up here and looks set to record his third career-win in this event.
Last start, the Playing God gelding resumed off an 18-week break when against the odds, he did well to beat all but one home in a 1000m event on this track.
With regular rider Chris Parnham aboard, he left the gates from barrier 13 (of 14) where he settled mid-field, caught three-wide to the turn.
He took the turn five-wide but posting the best closing splits for the race, finished strongly to grab the silver medal, missing out on first prize by just a long neck over the line.
His luck changes here as he gets the gun-run from gate one where he maps to settle three or four pairs back, on the fence with plenty of cover.
Parnham remains in charge for this assignment and already boasting success when second-up, he will take plenty of beating in this contest.
