Race 1: No.3 Iceman
The Clarry Conners-trained galloper is second-up here and looks well placed to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Rubick gelding resumed off a 19-week break and impressed when he beat all but one home in a BM72, here over 1350m.
Settling last of the dozen runners, Nash Rawiller threaded his way through the field in the run home, arriving in time to claim second prize that day.
Much better drawn in gate two here, he maps to do no early work as he settles back in the field with Rawiller in the saddle again.
Fitter for that first-up effort and over more ground here, the four-year-old looks a genuine winning chance in this contest.
Race 7: No.6 Travolta
Chris Waller saddles-up Iceman here who is second-up and ticks all the boxes that suggest he is the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the Lope de Vega gelding resumed off a 16-week spell and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth under handicap conditions over 1600m at Randwick.
Chad Schofield settled him mid-field on the fence to the turn, then ran home well to finish just behind the placegetters.
Facing black-type opposition here, he draws gate nine in the 14-strong field and maps to settle back in the field with James McDonald (J.Mac) as the new pilot.
Fitter for that first-up run, the 1900m looks ideal for him here and already a winner in Group 3 company, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 10: No.7 Hawker Hall
The Kris Lees-trained galloper is high-flying this time in and only has to overcome a wide draw here to be saluting again in this event.
Last start, the Russian Revolution gelding made light work of it when he clobbered his rivals in a Class 6 Plate over 1200m at the Gold Coast.
Drawn wide in gate 11 (of 15), J.Mac had the reins and had him leading on settling, then in the run home, showed a solid turn-of-foot to increase his lead, then cross the line two lengths clear in the end, running the 1200m in a red-hot 1:08.9.
Drawn wide again here, he maps to push forward and settle near the speed again with J.Mac retaining the ride for this assignment.
Already a track and trip winner and at his peak here, the four-year-old will take a ton of beating in this contest.
