Race 6: No.6 Oh Diamond Lil
The David Pfieffer-trained galloper is second-up here and in top-shelf form, looks the testing material in this event.
Last start, the impeccably-bred So You Think mare resumed off a 14-week spell and simply picked up where she left off last preparation, beating home a BM72 field over 1300m at Scone.
Kerrin McEvoy had her box-seating on settling before finding the front inside the final 150m and went on with it, winning by a length on the line.
Ideally drawn in gate two here, she maps to settle just behind the speed again with Jay Ford in the saddle (as McEvoy is engaged with the Brisbane Carnival), and already a winner when second-up, looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 7: No.15 Nellie Leylax
The Team Archibald-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks enough boxes to suggest he can give this event a real shake at odds.
Last start, the British-bred gelding made his Australian debut after 12 months off the scene and impressed when finishing third in a BM94, here over 1600m.
On a Heavy 9 that day, he found himself showing the way mid-race and on straightening, looked gone for all money before fighting back strongly to take home the minor prize.
Anna Roper has the reins for this assignment and nicely drawn in gate three, the four-year-old maps to settle just behind the speed.
All six career wins have come on wet tracks so conditions here look ideal for the British import and already a winner when second-up, an each-way ticket looks the way to go for this contest.
Race 8: No.4 In Flight
Joe Pride saddles-up In Flight here who is high flying after three runs back and looks well placed in the conditions here to figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Flying Artie mare was third-up and hit her best form when she clobbered her rivals in the Listed Magic Millions Bright Shadow over 1110m at Doomben.
Ensuring the trip north of the border wasn’t in vain, Jason Collett gave her every chance in the race and relishing the wet conditions, she carried 58kgs to win by two lengths on the line.
Her six career wins have all come on rain affected tracks so the wet conditions here look ideal for another first-class performance.
Back in Sydney, (regular rider) Jay Ford returns to the saddle and needing just a little luck from gate ten, the four-year-old should take beating in this contest.
