We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Flemington racetrack.
Race 1 No.1- United Nations
Keen on United Nations in the opener at Flemington. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper has a bit of a class edge on these and was solid when unlucky in a strongly run race at Caulfield when stepping out off a 10-week break recently, placing a three-length 6th behind Immediacy. He was slowly away then was held up for a large period of the straight before landing three lengths away, going a very healthy 11 lengths faster than standard. The six-year-old missed the majority of last year but was flying in much harder races than this during the spring of 2023.
Race 3 No.3- Cindy Falls
Cindy Falls can go close in Race 3. The former Kiwi was excellent when resuming down the straight over the 1200m, overcoming traffic at the 400m to rattle home for 3rd behind Star Sirius. She was a winner at her second Australian run a year ago at the track and trip and possesses a sharp closing sprint. Tempo in this looks even enough with the likes of Pariah Pearl and Fire Of Etna to go forward. The possibility of a track with some give in it will suit the daughter of Sacred Falls and if she can find the right part of the track from barrier 2, she is capable of running over the top of them.
Race 8 No.7- Shockeltz
Shockeltz looks cherry ripe for another shot at the Flemington 2000m. The Ciaron Maher filly was never really in it and had a couple of excuses behind Treasurethemoment in the Wakeful Stakes (2000m) last spring but her other four starts have been rock solid. She was a winner in easier company when resuming at Bendigo before heading to Saturday grade at Sandown on May 24, overcoming traffic when held up from th turn to the 300m, before winding up well to place 4th behind Taken. The daughter of Shocking will strip fitter and should be strong at the business end.
