Race 6: No.4 Forever Boy
The Michael Grantham-trained Forever Boy is third-up here and has shown enough to suggest he is ready to produce his best in this event.
Last start, the Charm Spirit gelding showed plenty of improvement when he finished a close-up third over 1600m at Belmont.
Clint Johnston-Porter settled him mid-field before running home stoutly to grab the minor prize in close finish.
He draws well in gate four here and maps to settle better than mid-field as Johnston-Porter steers the ship again.
Already a winner when third-up and boasts success at his only start on the Pinjarra track, he looks a prime candidate for the major prize in this contest.
Race 7: No.4 Magnificent Andy
The Stephen Miller-trained galloper has improved in three starts back this campaign and now looks set to win.
Last start, the Magnus gelding did well to beat all but one home in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint, run here over 1400m.
He drew the carpark in gate 14 (of 16) with Brad Parnham pushing forward to cross and sit outside the leader on settling.
The six-year-old fought on gamely in the run home and was only grabbed on the line, leaving him with the silver medal in the black-type affair.
Drawn far better here in gate five, he won’t use up as much early gas to settle in the first half-dozen as he meets Group 3 competition again wit regular rider Parnham at the helm again.
Fourth-up and at his peak here, a trouble-free run should see him fighting out the finish again in this contest.
Race 8: No.3 Luvnwar
Another from the Michael Grantham stable, Luvnwar is second-up here and ticks all boxes that suggest she will be the testing material in this event.
Last start, the War Decree mare resumed after six months off the scene and couldn’t have been any more impressive when taking out a BM78, here over 1200m with Clint Johnston-Porter in the saddle.
Settling back in the field, she made her move on straightening and after being held up briefly, found clean air and posting the best sectionals in the race, finishing too strong on fresh legs, winning the race by a length on the line.
She draws well in gate five here and maps to settle near mid-field with cover as Johnston-Porter retains the ride for this contest.
The four-year-old is already a two-time winner when second-up and avoiding any dramas in running, she looks the one they have to beat here.
