Race 4: No.5 Mai Aloha
The Team Williams-trained galloper is high-flying this time in and looks set to continue her good form in this event.
Last start, the Long Leaf mare came off a hat-trick of runner-up prizes when she took out a No-Metro-Wins Hcp, here over the 1000m sprint.
William Pike had her leading from the outset and crossing the line she hung on to win in a tight finish.
From gate nine here, she maps to cross and settle just behind the speed with Pike steering the ship again.
The mare’s resume shows two wins and three minor placings from her five starts at the track and distance, putting her in the track specialist category and with a trouble-free run here, the five-year-old looks set to keep that record intact in this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Tidwell
Steve Wolfe saddles-up Tidwell here who is in great touch this preparation and ticks the right boxes here that suggest he is a major player in this event.
Last start the Playing God gelding rang-up career win number three when he took out a Three-Year-Old Hcp, here over 1400m.
Shaun McGruddy had him box-seating on settling to the turn, then scored a dream rails-run to slip underneath the leader and go on to score a good win.
From gate five here, he maps to settle mid-field or better with McGruddy backing-up for the ride again.
Already a track and distance winner here, he looks set for back-to-back success in this contest.
Race 7: No.8 Final Siren
The Rebecca Bayliss-trained galloper is third-up today and should now be ready to produce his best in this event.
Last start, the Australian-bred gelding showed a ton of improvement off his first-up effort when he claimed third prize in the Listed Bolton Sprint, here over 1200m.
From gate 10 (of 11), Shaun McGruddy took him straight to the lead where he set a solid pace to the turn, then still finding plenty pinched a break and looked the winner but he ran out of gas in the final 50m but did well to stick on for the minor prize in the end.
Taking on Listed company again here, he draws well in gate six and maps to be on te speed from barrier rise with McGruddy in the saddle again.
Unbeaten in three previous third-up appearances, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
