Race 4: No.6 Arapawa
The Team Cavanough-trained galloper is second-up today and looks set to play a big role in the outcome of this event.
Last start, the Astern gelding resumed off a 16-week spell and beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1000m.
With Nick Palmer Aboard, he settled mid-field before tracking the leaders around the turn, then came off heels and finished strongly, beaten a whisker on the line.
He maps to settle mid-field from barrier eight with Mitchell Bell returning for his second ride on the gelding.
With three top-two finishes on this track already and a winner when second-up previously, he looks in the mix for a win in this contest.
Race 7: No.10 Feared
Mack Griffith saddles-up Feared here who is in great tough this time in and lines up here a winning chance in this event.
Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding came off back-to-back wins when he stepped-up in grade and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1450m.
Jean Van Overmeire had the reins that day where he settled two pairs back from the speed and in the run home, battled on gamely, beaten 2.5 lengths on the line.
With Van Overmeire in the saddle again, he maps to settle back in the field from barrier eight and drops back to the more suitable 1200m where he has won twice previously.
Fourth-up and at his peak today, he looks a genuine winning chance in this contest.
Race 8: No.4 Chistota
The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper has found his mojo after four career starts and looks well placed here to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Russian Revolution gelding came off back-to-back runner-up finishes when he claimed victory in a set weights Maiden over 1500m at Port Macquarie.
After overracing early, Luke Rolls allowed him to take up the front-running where he set a good pace and in the run home, had plenty left in the tank, holding them at bay to collect the major prize on the line.
Taking on BM58 company today, he jumps from gate seven and maps to settle near the speed with Rolls in charge again.
The lightly-raced five-year-old shows plenty of promise and over the same trip today, looks the one to beat in this contest.
