Who were the eyecatchers, who should you add to your black book for upcoming races and meetings and who do we recommended following in the weeks and months ahead?
Race 2: BM85 Hcp (1200m) – She’s Exotic
The Matt Dunn-trained mare was third-up on Saturday where she came off an unplaced effort in Listed company and bounced back with an eye-catching third in this event.
Martin Harley settled the $26 chance in second-last place (spotting the leaders eight lengths) before tracking wide on the turn and whilst little to no chance of winning, the mare stormed home to grab third prize beaten just 1.5 lengths on the line.
Now 12 starts into her career, she has won seven of those already and based on her big finish here, she looks set to go on with it from here.
Race 3: Lightning Hcp (Listed) (1000m) – Zouperb
Facing Listed company with just one run under her belt, the Zoustar mare jumped from gate six and was never on the track, travelling three wide to the turn before tracking even wider on straightening, then ran home strongly to arrive in time and grab the bronze medal in the race.
The mare’s third-up record is outstanding boasting two wins and three minor placings from five appearances and after her efforts in this contest, keep her safe next start.
Race 6: MM National Classic (1600m) – Declichy Boulevard
The Chris Waller-trained galloper was second-up on Saturday and came under notice with a big finish in this event.
The mare drew the carpark in gate 13 (of 15) and eased after the start, settled back with the tailenders to the turn before Jason Collett steered her wide on the turn in search of clean air and in the run home, the four-year-old made up a ton of ground to finish fifth, beaten just a length on the line.
Two previous third-up appearances saw her find the podium on both occasions so it should pay to keep her under notice for a few more starts.
