Race 1: No.2 Boonie
The five-year-old has improved at each start this time in and now looks ready to win.
Last start, the Brazen Beau gelding had his first start for a new stable when he beat all but one home in a BM78 over 1000m at Murray Bridge.
With Todd Pannell aboard, he crossed from the outside gate (11) and sat alongside the leader to the turn, where he then took over but he was just one run short of his best and grabbed by a swooper, had to settle for second prize on the day.
Apprentice, Rochelle Milnes is the new pilot and brings with her a 2kg claim.
Drawn ideally in gate two, he should find the front from there and after three runs back, he will be at his peak and prove hard to run down.
Race 3: No.4 Cleitus
The Victorian visitor sees his first South Australian track here and in top-shelf form this preparation, looks right in the mix to claim victory in this event.
Last start, the Helmet gelding came off a good win over the mile at Werribee when he stepped-up to the 2000m journey and wasn’t disgraced, finishing third in the BM64 event at Ballarat.
He took over inside the final 600m but was found wanting 100m from home on the Heavy 8 that day and had to settle for the minor prize.
Jason (stubby) Holder is legged aboard for this assignment who has a 29% success rate with the Symon Wilde camp.
The six-year-old gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle in the first half-dozen.
Fourth-up and at his peak, a trouble-free run here should see him fighting out the finish.
Race 5: No.5 Lingani
The Team Blanch-trained galloper has returned to the track in blistering form and third-up here looks a serious contender for the major prize.
Last start, the three-year-old came off an impressive first-up win (putting five lengths on a BM56 field) when she faced Open company against her own age where she beat all but one home over 1200m at Murray Bridge.
Dom Tourneur has been aboard for all five of the filly’s starts to date and remains in charge for this assignment.
Even fitter for those two runs back, she gets all the favours from gate one where she maps to settle mid-field with cover.
All she needs here is a clear run to the line and if the filly can secure that, she will prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 8: No.7 Dashing Duchess
Another from the Symon Wilde stable, the four-year-old is now three starts into this campaign and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Tavistock mare remained unbeaten (when third-up) as she took out a BM78 over 2400m at Swan Hill.
Sent out a red-hot $2.15 favourite, Dean Yendall ensured she didn’t let punters down as she took control at the 400m mark and fought off the challenges to take home the major prize that day.
Having her first look at Morphettville here, Jason Holder steers the ship as the mare meets similar company to last start.
She has drawn wide here in gate 13, but did win a BM64 at Ballarat from the same gate four starts back.
If she can overcome the wide gate and settle early, she should prove hard to hold out here.
