We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Hawkesbury racetrack.
Race 1: No.3 Don’s Party
The Team Cave-trained galloper has come back at the top of his game and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Adelaide gelding resumed after six months off the scene and did it in style when he took out a 1300m Maiden Hcp at Wyong.
Slowly away, Andrew Calder settled him at the rear of the field before working his way into the race nearing the turn, then in the run home, took control quickly and went on to score comfortably in the end, crossing the line 2.5 lengths clear of them.
Progressing to Class 1 competition here, he draws the outside gate (8) but maps to ease back and settle at the rear again with Calder retaining the ride for this assignment.
The step-up to the 1500m looks ideal for him second-up and with a trouble-free run, he looks hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 5: No.7 Highborn Harry
The David Payne-trained galloper is running into form after four starts this preparation and should now be ready to strike in this event.
Last start, the Harry Angel gelding put in his best effort this campaign when he beat all but one home in a BM66 over 1600m at Goulburn.
He left the gates in last place and was spotting the leader eight lengths on settling before tracking wide on the turn and in the run to the line, stormed home to finish within a long neck of the winner, taking home second prize on the day.
Rising to the 1800m trip, he draws gate seven and maps to settle back in the field Tom Sherry back in the saddle after partnering the gelding ten times previously.
The six-year-old has five podium finishes from eight previous attempts at the 1800m and at his peak today, looks a major player in this contest.
Race 7: No.8 Sprightly Affair
Second-up today, the Nathan Doyle-trained galloper is yet to miss the podium and looks well placed here for another win in this event.
Last start, the Home Affairs filly resumed off a 19-week break and made light work of it when she clobbered her rivals in a 900m Maiden at Newcastle.
On fresh legs, she crossed from gate seven and settled in the box-seat to the turn, before crossing off the leader’s heels and soon after straightening, took control then raced away to score by more than two lengths over the line.
Jean Van Overmeire was responsible for that copybook ride and has the reins again in this assignment.
Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps perfectly to be box-seating on settling here and fitter for that first-up win, looks the one to beat in this contest.
