Happy Valley racing takes place on Wednesday, 4 November with a 9-race program set down for the Happy Valley racetrack.

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Happy Valley racetrack.

Race 4: No.12  Prestige Ricky

The Ricky Yiu-trained galloper is third-up tonight and ticks enough boxes here to suggest he is a winning chance in this event.

Last start, the British-sired gelding showed plenty of improvement off his first-up effort when he beat all but one home in a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1650m.

Karis Teetan settled him mid-field on the fence to the turn, then sticking to the inside, he weaved through traffic and hit the line well to grab second prize, beaten a neck on the line.

Drawn the fence again tonight, he maps to settle just behind the speed with Andrea Atzeni back for his second ride on the gelding.

Meeting similar company here, he comes in on the limit with just 53kgs to carry and already a winner when third-up, the five-year-old looks right in this contest.

Race 6: No.3  Charming Babe

Three starts into this campaign, the Ricky Yiu-trained galloper has found his best form of late and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.

Last start, the Pride of Dubai gelding hit top gear when third-up and took out a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1200m.

With apprentice Nichola Yuen aboard, he settled second-last and was three-deep to the turn before tracking even wider, then in the run home, found another gear and swamped them near the line to grab an unlikely win in the end.

From barrier eight tonight, he maps to settle in the back half of the field with Yuen retaining the ride for this assignment.

Fourth-up and at his peak, he is a track specialist boasting three wins at the track and distance and with a clear run to the line, the six-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket for back-to-back success in this contest.

Race 8: No.9  Live Wire

Doug Whyte saddles-up Live Wire here who is high flying after two runs back and ticks all the boxes that suggest he is the testing material in this event.

Last start, the Tassort gelding came off a first-up Class 4 win when he stepped-up in grade and did well to beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m.

From gate nine (of 11) Andrea Atzeni pushed him forward to settle outside the leader where the two of them slapped on the speed and led the pack by five lengths on the turn, then in the run home, ran out of gas and were beaten to the line by the race favourite (The Heir), still hanging on to take home second prize in the end.

Fitter for those two runs back, he gets the gun-run from gate one tonight and after riding him to both career wins to date,  Zac Purton returns for the ride.

Already a two-time winner at the track and trip, the four-year-old should prove hard to beat in this contest.
