Grafton Racing Tips for July 24 - Rentessis can win, down in grade today

Race 1: No.12 Junostar
The Ballina-based galloper is second-up here and up in distance, looks well placed to improve in this event.
Last start, the Dundeel filly resumed after six months in the paddock and in need of the run, did well to finish fifth in a Maiden Plate, here over 1410m.
Jumping from the outside gate (14), Nozi Tomizawa settled her near the tail of the field before tracking wide on the turn, then in the run home, worked well to the line, doing her best work over the final 100m, passing several before crossing the line.
Fitter for that run, the filly steps-up to the mile trip here where she draws much better today in gate four and maps to settle near mid-field with Anthony Allen aboard as the new pilot.
Finishing runner-up when second-up last preparation, the three-year-old looks well worth a ticket on both totes in this contest.
Race 4: No.6 Got The Smarts
The Samantha McGuren-trained galloper is in good touch this time in and down sharply in grade today, looks a major player in this event.
Last start, the Smart Missile mare came off a BM58 win at Taree when she stepped-up to a Class 2 event and did well to finish fifth, here over 1100m.
Slowly away, she settled back in the field, ten lengths off the speed before gradually improving along the fence to be near mid-field on the turn, then chased hard all the way home to finish just two lengths from the winner.
Stepping-up to 1200m here, she draws well again and gets the gun-run from gate one where she maps to settle near mid-field on the fence with Olivia Dalton aboard for the first time.
Dropping back to BM58 company today, a trouble-free run should see the mare hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 6: No.2 Rentessis
David Matts saddles-up Rentessis here who is three starts into this campaign and should now be ready to produce his best in this event.
Last start, the Ilovethiscity gelding was third-up when he finished last in a Class 3 Hcp over 1205m at Coffs Harbour.
On a Heavy 10 that day, he fail dismally to handle the boggy track and in the run home, weakened out of it, beaten a long way in the end.
Back on top of the ground today, he gets all the favours from gate one here with Ray Spokes sticking with him for this assignment.
The four-year-old drops sharply in grade as he faces Class 1 opposition here and on a forecast Good 4, we should see a much improved performance from him in this contest.
