Race 5: No.15 Lady Lucifer
The David Vandyke-trained galloper is in top-shelf form this campaign and looks well placed here to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Hellbent mare came off back-to-back minor placings when she found her best form and clobbered her rivals in a Class 3 Hcp, over 1350m at Doomben.
Ridden a treat by Emily Lang, she crossed from gate 13 (of 14) to lead on settling and from there, that was all she wrote, extending the lead in the run home, the five-year-old ran them off their legs, crossing the line almost three lengths clear with plenty to spare.
Jumping from barrier eight here, she maps to settle near the speed with Lang at the helm again.
If she can dominate the race early and is left alone, she can give them something to chase again in this contest.
Race 6: No.3 Warby
Tony Gollan saddles-up Warby here who is second-up and despite a wide draw, can take out this event.
Last start, the Hellbent gelding resumed after 18 weeks off the scene and wasn’t disgraced when finishing third in a BM85 over 1200m at Eagle Farm.
Ryan Maloney was aboard for his seventh ride on the gelding and settled him mid-field before boxing-on well in the run home to claim the minor prize in the race.
Drawn the outside gate here (13), he maps to cross and find cover near mid-field with Maloney steering the ship again.
Fitter for that first-up effort and already a three-time winner when second-up, just a little luck in running can see him there at the finish and is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 8: No.14 Surprise Honey
Another from the Gollan stable, Surprise Honey is in top-shelf form this time in and looks more than capable of taking on the class rise here and taking home the chocolates in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Extreme Choice mare was third-up off a 21-week absence when she found her best form and won a Class 2 Plate over 1100m at Ipswich with Angela Jones aboard.
Settling second at barrier rise, she kept pace with the leader to the turn, before taking over inside the final 200m and held off all challenges to score by a length on the line.
Jumping from gate seven here, the four-year-old maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Ryan Maloney legged aboard for the first time.
At her peak, fourth-up here, a trouble-free run should see her challenging for back-to-back victories in this contest.
