Race 3: No.3 Switch The Stars
The Team Sears-trained galloper is in great touch this preparation and looks well placed here to figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Sun City gelding beat all but one home in a BM62 over 800m at Kilcoy.
Trying to lead all the way, he shard the front-running with Howdoyouzou to the turn, then kept the battle going all the way home, but had to settle for second prize in the end, beaten 1.5 lengths on the line.
Drawn out on barrier eight here, he maps to push forward and settle in the first half-dozen with Brandon Lerena as the new pilot.
Placed on a wet track last start, the three-year-old is at his peak here and should play an active part in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4: No.2 Cardiologist
Matt Kropp saddles-up Cardiologist here who is second-up and ticks enough boxes to show improvement in this event.
Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding resumed off a 12-week spell and in need of the run, finished last in a BM70 Hcp, here over 1100m.
Missing the jump, he settled at the rear of the field, eight lengths off the speed for the first half of the race, then Harrison Shaw steered him wide and was three deep to the turn, before turning for home the widest runner ad just ran out of fuel in the run to the line.
Stepping-up to a more suitable 1400m here, he draws barrier eight and maps to settle better than mid-field with Shaw in the saddle again.
Dropping down in grade, he faces BM66 competition here and fitter for that first-up run, the four-year-old looks in the mix to challenge for victory in this contest.
Race 5: No.6 Mister Selfie
The Philip Minter-trained galloper found his mojo recently and in top-shelf form now, looks set to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Overshare gelding made it two wins from his past three starts when he took out a BM0-58 Hcp over 1400m at Beaudesert.
From barrier eight (of nine), Brandon Lerena settled him back in the field before working into the race approaching the turn, then carrying top weight (60kgs) he took over inside the final 200m and went on to score comfortably in the end.
Stepping-up in grade here, he faces BM65 competition but drops in weight and drawn well in gate three, maps to settle in the back-half of the field with Lerena steering the ship again.
Already a four-time winner at the 1400m and in career-best form, the five-year-old will take beating in this contest.
