Race 3: No.6 Angie’s Sister
The Brett Robb-trained galloper is second-up here and looks set to continue with her good form in this event.
Last start, the Winning Rupert mare resumed after 10 months in the paddock and did well to find the podium when finishing third in a BM58 over 1000m at Warren.
Regular rider Izzy Neale had her leading from barrier rise to the turn, then gave a kick on straightening to lead by two lengths but on fresh legs and a Soft 7 track, she was run down by two fitter on the day.
Under different conditions here against Class 1 company, she drops back to the 900m sprint and gets the gun-run from gate one where she maps to leading again with Izzy Neale remaining aboard for this assignment.
After the claim, the mare drops 2kgs in weight and fitter for that first-up run, looks a winning chance in this contest.
Race 6: No.5 Live To Rise
The Sally Torrens-trained galloper is in good touch after three runs back and should now be ready to show her best in this event.
Last start, the Saxon Warrior mare was third-up when she stepped-up in grade and did well to finish third in a BM82 Hcp over 1200m at Tamworth.
Jumping from the carpark in gate 12 (of 14), Leanne Boyd settled the mare mid-field and trapped three-wide to the turn before scouting even wider, then covering more ground than the early explorers, the mare stormed home to grab the minor prize in the race, unlucky not to finish closer considering the extra ground covered.
Better drawn here in gate six, she maps to settle better than mid-field and closer to the fence with Leanne Boyd retaining the ride.
At her peak now and a winner when fourth-up last preparation, the four-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 7: No.3 Arapawa
Team Cavanough saddle-up Arapawa here who is in great touch this time in and looks well placed here to figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Astern gelding came off a Class 2 win on this track when he stepped-up in grade and wasn’t disgraced when finishing sixth in a BM72 over 1300m against metropolitan company at Randwick.
Mollie Fitzgerald settled him second outside the leader to the turn, then in the run home, held his own to the 200m mark but couldn’t match it in the harder company on the day, still beaten just a tick over two lengths in the end.
Dropping sharply in grade here as he returns to country racing, he faces a BM66 contest where he jumps from gate six and speed maps have him settling in the first half-dozen with Winona Costin being legged aboard as the new pilot.
Boasting strong wet-track form and already a winner at the track and distance, the three-year-old looks a major winning chance here.
