Geelong Racing Tips for July 10 – Bjorson to score early at Geelong

Nice debut by Bjorson over the 1225m here last month and the Jamie Edwards-trained galloper can go a couple of spots better in this race. His debut came over the 1225m on a Heavy 9 and he settled handy but just lacked the dash when the sprint went on before closing off with the fastest last 200 to grab 3rd. The runner-up out of that has since picked up a Maiden win and Bjorson went 2.6 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner in this race. The son of Foxwedge draws wide and will just need a bit of luck finding a spot early on but he should have improvement to come, while the Heavy track and the step to the 1443m looks to be right up his alley. 

Carnival Riches is a sneaky player at the each-way quote in Race 7. The three-year-old is one of the emergencies for the race but can give this a shake if she sneaks into the field. Form reads as moderate having been outclassed at Flemington two starts ago before a last start 4th on the Ballarat Synthetic. That effort was pretty good given the circumstances that saw her settle well back on a crawling tempo, coming into it with the fastest 400m-200m split before the race shape went against at the end. The daughter of Written Tycoon was solid earlier this preparation when working home well on a Heavy surface at Kilmore and she gives the impression that she is searching for this distance.
